Nominations have opened for the 2018 Leicester Mercury Business Awards.
Once again, the great and the good of Leicester’s business community are set to gather for the prestigious awards ceremony in Leicester next spring.
Bringing together companies of all sizes and from across a range of sectors, the awards offer the chance for businesses to be acknowledged and celebrated for their contribution to the business community over the previous 12 months.

The city of Leicester and wider county have a flourishing business community and with retailers, manufacturers, not-for-profit organisations and small businesses all rewarded at the awards, the evening is one of the standout nights on the local business calendar.
The 2018 event will take place on April 12 at the Maher Centre, just off St Margaret’s Way, which will see people gather for an evening of celebration and fine dining.
Guests will enjoy a Champagne reception followed by a delicious three-course meal.
Then, the award presentations will get under way, with 14 awards on offer.

These include Company of the Year, SME Business of the Year and Employer of the Year.
Businesses will be hoping they can follow in the footsteps of last year’s Company of the Year winners, Qualvis Print & Packaging.
The print company manufactures for a wide range of different industries including food & drink, media and cosmetics, and were worthy winners on the night.
With nominations now open, companies who have really made a difference to the region, their industry or sector are encouraged to put themselves forward.

Recognising businesses both big and small, next year there are a variety of new categories on offer – such as the Customer Service Excellence Award and Sustainability Award.
Next spring’s black-tie ceremony will be attended by finalists and category sponsors, whose job it is to decide on the shortlisted finalists and the eventual winners.

Vikky Perry, project executive for awards organisers Champions (UK) Plc, said: “Winning one of the coveted awards can really enhance a business’s profile, and as excitement builds for 2018’s event you can be sure a whole host of business talent will be showcased at the event.
“Not only do the awards provide a platform to recognise and reward success in the business world, they also offer a vital fund0raising opportunity.
“The Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People provides a place for children who are suffering from life-limiting and life-threatening conditions to be cared for as well as offering support to their families.
“All money raised on the night will go to this worthwhile cause.”

Chris Darlington of Mazars
Professor Dana Brown, pro-vice-chancellor and dean at De Montfort’s Faculty of Business & Law, said she was proud to be a sponsor of the 2018 awards.
She said: “The Leicester Mercury Business Awards 2018 give us all a chance to recognise and applaud the achievements of businesses of all shapes and sizes.”
Chris Darlington, managing partner of the Leicester office of headline sponsors Mazars, said: “Business achievement is fundamental to us having a strong local and national economy so we believe it should not only be encouraged and supported but also that it should be celebrated and recognised and there is no better way to do this than through the business awards.
“The awards create a great feel-good factor and reminds us what a diverse, resilient and entrepreneurial region we all live in.”
