Boden creates hundreds of Leicestershire jobs

Boden, whose brightly coloured fashions are sported by celebrities including Madonna, Holly Willoughby, Yasmin le Bon and Michelle Obama, is building a £30 million state of the art warehouse and call centre in a move that will create hundreds of jobs.
Founder and creative director Johhnie Boden proudly cut the ribbon to formally open the new facility in Glenfield on Wednesday.

In a speech to staff he said: “This new warehouse is so so exciting. We came to this new site to prepare for growth: not only in direct but in wholesale and retail too. If we can crack those, we’re going to need an even bigger warehouse in 10 years’ time.”
The business, which turns over £283 million annually, says it wants to create a further 200 hundred jobs at the 250,000 sq ft warehouse at Optimus Point over the next five years, to add to the 380 it already employs in Leicester.

Johnnie is keen to attract and retain staff to the new warehouse and call centre.
He added: “Not only did we want to give you a less cramped and a better laid out warehouse but also to give you something that looks and feels as nice as what we are having in London. You are as important as London – please believe that.
“I would like to thank the many people who bust a gut to make this project happen but above all to thank every one of you for working so hard.
“Here’s to the next 15 years.”
Boden is set to open a new store on King’s Road in London in November. The firm says it has seen a 10 per cent increase in its workforce over the last five years.
